Something happened to me today that reminded me just how strange the brain can sometimes work. And how one thing leads to another. It wasn’t anything big but it was entertaining and mildly enriching.
It all started when I went to clip my fingernails. Usually, I do that after showering. I find it much easier to clip them if they are a bit softened from the warm soapy water. But I had already showered hours ago.
So I did something I had never done before, unknowingly kicking off a curious train of thought. I grabbed a small dipping bowl and squirted a tiny bit of dish washing liquid into it. The dish washing liquid just happened to be green. And when I looked at that small dipping bowl, filled with warm sudsy water, made from green dish washing liquid... about to stick my finger tips into it... Well, if you’re old enough to remember 70’s or 80’s TV and grew up in America then maybe you see where this is heading...
All of a sudden I had an image of Madge the manicurist praising the virtues of Palmolive dish washing liquid to a young housewife, “It softens your hands while you do the dishes... you’re soaking in it right now.” That association gave me a chuckle and then the next thought popped into my mind: “I’ve never soaked my fingernails before.” And that gave birth to another random thought, actually a line of music lyrics that drifted into my mind: “Last night I had the strangest dream.”
This happens to me one of my favorite anti-war songs from my youth so I went a’Googling. Google led me to a Youtube film of a Pete Seeger rendition of the song from his 1966 TV show “Rainbow Quest.” Not only was Pete Seeger one of my favorite folk singers in the 60’s when I was a junior hippy in training but the context of his performance of “Last night I had the strangest dream” had particular relevance for me as someone who is deeply concerned and pre-occupied with peace in the Middle East.
Pete Seeger was joined in what was apparently episode 29 of “Rainbow Quest” by Theodore Bikel, an Israeli actor and folk singer and Rashid Hussain, a Palestinian poet. It was interesting and inspiring to these three men sitting on the simple 1966 TV set talking and singing about peace between Israel and the Palestinians. In a way it was also sad and frustrating – that we have been singing, dreaming, writing and protesting for peace for so long and with so few concrete results to show for it.
In any case, it was an entertaining example of the crazy, winding, totally non-linear way in which the mind sometimes works. What started as a simple finger nail clipping ended up being a great little trip, a random train of thought that led to a surprising destination.
Good Content.
Today while I was surfing the Internet, I came across several interesting articles talking about UV nail lamps and how to use
them with gel nail application. I also happened to visit this site Gel-Nails and found amazing variety of UV lamps in American and European style. Some of these lamps also have a timer and a digital display which I think is really cool. And what’s best above all is the super discount that you can get which is 50% and more also for most of the products.
I guess this is a great offer to grab as there is free global shipping also over a minimum purchase order. So if you are looking out to save money after having spent on gel nails, then check out the great offers here. Maybe you may find much more
than what you are looking for as I did.

Hey Hemarobert,
You do a good job of finding blog articles about nails apparently. I will leave your comment even though it really has nothing to do with the post. Maybe someone else will find it useful.
Be well and good luck with the gel nails.

Thank-you. Your random train of thought has lifted my spirits. I won't give up on the dream.

Everyone here is fit and well. My son will be graduating in June, so this is an exciting time for us.
I'm much relieved that he has decided against joining the military, but now he isn't sure what he wants to do. I'm encouraging him to travel, as his cousin did after graduation. Stephen is now a teacher in Taiwan and loves it. He has visited Ankor Wat on several occasions and can't get enough, either.:)

Hi Fiona,
Congratulations on your son's graduation! For some reason I never pictured you having a grown adult kid. But now that I mention that, I guess if I had been married and had kids, so would I.
Maybe your son could find what he was looking for in the military - adventure and service - with a totally different kind of adventure - far travel - and a different form of service - some sort of volunteer work where the need is great and the personal satisfaction and growth is even greater. Just a thought. Cool that your nephew has also fallen for Angkor Wat. (A word from our sponsors: Maybe you can send him the url of my Angkor Wat site www.angkortuktuk.net - for his next trip or friends he knows. - And now back to our regularly scheduled program...).
I hope you are enjoying a nice Spring. Be well!
